Being told that you have cancer

Being told that you have cancer usually comes as a terrible shock.

If we are asked to be involved in your care will shall do our best to treat you as compassionately and quickly as possible.

Cancer can affect any of the 'HPB' organs

If you have been diagnosed with cancer of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts or gallbladder, then we may be asked if we can try to help you by removing the cancer with an operation.

Please click on the list on the left for information about each type of HPB cancer.

Cancer Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT)

If you have been diagnosed with cancer your case will be discussed by a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) which includes a range of different specialists who may be involved in the diagnosis and treatment of your disease. The MDT meets once a week and makes recommendations for your treatment which will be discussed with you before a definite plan is made with you.
